You can snorkel righ off Lands End dock. Near by Half Moon Bay is a great snorkel spot for those new to snorkeling or limited swimming abilities.

DIVING IN WESTEND
Roatan has some of the most stunning underwater vistas you will find in the world, deep and shallow reef types with colorful corals, sponges and abundant tropical marine life, especially in the Roatan Marine Park area.
Roatan is still one of the least expensive places in the world to get your PADI certification. A PADI OPEN WATER COURSE takes 3 - 4 days, ~$300. There are 10 dive shops in a short walking distance from Lands End. If you are not sure wether or not diving is for you, just try! All dive shops in Westend offer trial dives for ~$100 /p, ~4hrs, max 40ft/12mts. |

DIVING IN ROATAN
Roatan forms part of the Meso American Barrier reef which stretches from Yucatan in Mexico to the Honduran Bay Islands. It is the second largest barrier reef in the world. is surrounded by coral reef and crystal clear waters, making it an ideal destination for divers. The island is surrounded by coral reef. There are many dive shops all around the island close to famous dive sites such as Mary's Place, Barbaretta Banks, Morat Wall and Dolphin Grave Yard. Dive Safaris can take you to remote dive sites not many people even know about. Dive the Pigeon Cays, Guanaja or the sea mount off Cayos Cochinos. |

EXPLORE THE UNKNOWN - GO DEEPER
Idabel will take you deeper into the unexplored Cayman Trench than most people have ever ventured— illuminating depths down to 2,000 feet (610 meters) below the surface. Through the submarine's large plexiglass viewing bubble you will see a wide variety of deep sea animal life rarely encountered by humans. Idabel docks at Half Moon Bay, 4 minutes walk from Lands End.

SHARK DIVE
Daily encounters with Caribbean Reef Sharks are scheduled at Waihuka dive center off the south shore of Roatan. Dive time: 45 min, depth 24m (72 ft). Dive certification required. Typicalty there are 10 - 20 sharks, 6 to 8 feet long, all Caribbean Reef Sharks, several hundred pounds each.
A snack of fish (1-2 pounds) is kept in a bucket. Divers watching the sharks circling the area. After 15 minutes of watching the sharks, the bucket is presented to the sharks for a few moments of action as they jostle for position and a snack. |

NATURE TRAILS
Carambola Nature Trail opposite the road entrance of Anthony's Key and the Butterfly Garden in Westend are a nice combination if you want to explore the flora of Roatan on an easy-to-do 4 hour excursion. |

HIKING
Wide areas of Roatan are still unfenced. Locals walk around freely hunting iguanas, watussas, monkeys and other "delicious" animals. Hiking up the hill tops will reward you with incredible views on both sides or even a 360 of the island.
Hiking boots, insect repellent, lots of water, some basic spanish and an adventurous spirit would be the minimum requirements for your excursion.

KITING & WIND SURFING
There is a wind surfing school in Sandy Bay, a 10 min taxi ride from Westend. The school has 60 boards for all skills and levels. As well as having various courses you can take part in, windsurf hire is also available.

RENTAL CARS
Rent a Car and explore the island. Visit It is absolutely worth it. Rental cars are available at the airport. Lands End also offers the service to arrange a rental car for you. The most popular and recommendable car for an island tour is a Daihatsu Terios, a small 4x4, manual gearshift (standard), AC and that little extra road clearance for the many beautiful dirt roads off the beaten track (around $70/d incl. insurance and taxes).

HORSE BACK RIDING
Imagine a pathway with azure waters lapping at the shoreline on one side and swaying coconut, and tropical almond trees on the other side. This is horseback riding in Roatan. Of course, depending on your level of expertise, you can ride step to step or fly upon your mounted steed along the sandy beaches. You can transition from a casual walk, to a comfortable trot, or an upswing cantor, to a full throttle gallop.

There are popular zip line canopy tours within a 10 min drive from Lands End. Both operations offer safe but thrilling rides through the jungle canopy on 18 lines. You will receive a thorough introduction to the equipment and safety rules.
A professional will guide you through the jungle, from platform-to-platform. You can hire a professional photographer on site and buy a foto CD with all the action shots.
Both operations provide pick up and drop off. One also offers a nature park with monkeys and other animals. |

FISHING TRIPS
Locals and fishing charters will charge you anywhere between $ 70 and $ 120 per hour depending on the boat and the season. You cruise up and down a little bit with some rods attached to the boat. But hey, you had a couple of beers, talked about equipment and burned some fuel.
CATCHING TRIPS
Cost the same as fishing trips but they are extremely rare and can not be booked ;-) Anyways, we would be happy to help you with arrangements for fishing from a local dugout boat to flat fishing in the east. |

DOLPHINS
The Dolphin Encounter at Anthony's Key is an opportunity for everyone to interact with dolphins on the mammal's own initiative. You wade in hip deep water and pet the dolphin, get kissed and have your picture taken. 30min, $63.
The Dolphin snorkel consists of the Encounter + a 30 min snorkel session where you can observe and play with these amazing creatures. 30min $105.
The Dolphin Dive is for certified divers only. A small boat with no more than six divers being taken just five minutes outside the reef. The encounter is 45 minutes long and allows time to observe, photograph and play with the dolphins. |
